first gen aftermarket muffler question

Well the stocker on the taco rusted out so I'm looking to replace it with something that has a bit more sound while I'm at it. Anyone know what mufflers out there will work with the stock exhaust? Meaning does anyone know the diameter of the inlet and outlet so I can get something that's an easy fit.

 

I had my rear wheel off and noticed my muffler is pretty rusted through. The whole exhaust has a generous coating of rust..but that's an exhaust system for you.
Even though it's clearly rusted, it's still very quiet. Which I enjoy greatly.
I wouldn't mind a humble growl, but I don't want to be one of 'those' Dodge Ram or Silverado guys that ALWAYS have some screaming exhaust.

 

There are a few cat back options out there but most folks just have one welded onto the existing pipes. Either a 2.25" or a 2.5" opening on the replacement muffler is close enough to work with.

My recommendation is an 18" Magnaflow. Nice tone, not too loud and no loss of performance. Her is the one I went with.

Not a lot of people seem to run these, but I described the same thing as you to the muffler shop and this is what they recommended, definitely sounds great, but not too loud with the windows up
