I may buy some 16x8.5 inch guardians with -6 off set this spring. I'm also upgrading to the larger 231mm tundra brakes. I know this is a shot in the dark but does anyone know if this combo will rub. I can't find the wheels close enough to test fit. I don't want to order and then end up having to run a 1/4 inch spacer to fit. Discount tire shows photos of the a 16 inch wheel on a 1st gen tundra but I'm not trusting a photo.

If they list it for the 1st gen Tundra then you should be OK. If it makes you feel more comfortable, buy the set listed for the Tundra:D.

I believe the level 8 guardian has two offset options one is the -6mm the other is -25mm if you want to be sure get the -25mm you'll have less backspacing and more room.

-25 will be too wide. In NH you not supposed to have the tire stick out past the top of the fender and the -6 will leave me with about an inch over. Is have to go the other way with positive offset and run a spacer to compensate. This would her the inner wheel away from the caliper. If I have to run a spacer I'll just keep my current setup that works just fine.

that's not just NH thats pretty much everywhere.

running spacers is the same as a wheel with less backspacing. but to each his own.

What I meant by the previous post is getting a wheel with 5 inches of back spacing (about +18 offset) and running a 1 inch spacer will yield the same back spacing (4inch or -6 offset) that I need but it spaces the backside of the wheel that may contact the caliper an inch away. This should help any interference but sets me out another $125.

How do you know what the offset is? Americas tire just say they are 16X8.5 5-114.3 18MTB. What's the MTB mean?

    Any help? Thanks - Will

First off the bolt pattern you mentioned is not correct for a toyota. I believe that's a jeep bolt pattern. Toyota is 6-5.5 (or 139mm). Then the 18 you mentioned is the offset which is about a 5 inch back spacing. The MTB is the finish. Matte black
