I hate to post a weird sound thread but I'm kinda out of ideas of where I should diagnose this problem

This just started happening a couple days ago.

    1996 ext cab. 5speed, 2.7, 4x4

I have a weird rubbing/squeaking sound coming from my front end when I make low speed turns. Doesn't sound like metal on metal

And after driving the truck for over an hour I get a metal on metal sound coming from the front end, when I'm going straight at a speed of 10mph or less. This sound isn't related to brakes because it doesn't change once I apply the brakes.

My gut tells me that these two sounds are link and the same part needs to be replaced, maybe cv joints?

What kind of test can I do to track down the problem.

Any ideas would be great, and thanks to everyone that has helped in getting my new rig ready for the trails and the road.

side note i have manual locking hubs.

i crawled under the truck, when i turn the cv joints the passanger side makes the rubbing sound that ive been hearing.

it seems that i cant turn the manual locking hub by hand on the passanger side. i beleive i have found the problem.

anyone had problems with there manual locking hubs? what should i look for?
