    Why do a lot of people switch to steel wheels? Are they lighter? Stronger? Other reasons?

    Engage Offroad long travel front and rear with some fat tires.
    word... they are heavier, stronger, and if wheeling, easier to pound back into shape if they bend...

    oh, and a lot cheaper in cost than alloy wheels...

    I did it because of all the salt they dump on the roads up in Canada in the winter. The OEM rims are too labour intensive to clean up in the spring. The steel wheels just need paint. Plus if you get a decent set of steel rims they look pretty cool...
