Your code is same, open diff, like you stated.
Yeah my truck becoming more of a toy, finally. I do live in very hilly country. Will have to go up in tire size. My speedo is about 10-15 miles off now! Some of my more expensive parts aren't selling,so might start trading for upgrades. My truck is still completely stock. Got to lift, etc. It was work, daily driver for 17 yrs. Got this good frame and 96 to start a toy. Got to talk to some of these pros to find out where to start." I might be old,but not to old to play!"

I have the same engine setup as you. Not sure if gear ratio changed from year to year but my 04 2.7 5speed came factory with 4.30 gears ratio. I have a 6in lift with 35s. Bought the truck with the lift and tires already on so i cant do a before lift and after lift comparison on power loss. But i will say that if your going to lift and go to 33s im almost certain you will feel a power loss. Im putting 5.29 gears in very soon. Any time you up tire size you will lose some power, the question is can u tolerate it for what u use your truck for. If not simply regear. I will add though these little 2.7 engines hold there own when it comes to pushing more weight!! I was actually pretty impressed when i first test drove the truck and finally relized that it was never regeared.

look at Pcbuilder's build he was able to fit 33's with bilstiens and eibachs. not sure about rear, think he went with a leaf pack, but if the leafs are good get an add-a-leaf, way cheaper.

I ran on 358 and it's old man gearing. I went up to 31's and was disappointed bigtime. You will definitely want to regear to go to 33's. Otherwise it will be a turd. Truck came with 225/75/15's

So, update … I'm looking at 295/75/16 hankook m/t's on black Daytona steelies! 3"Spacer lift with rear block from tuff country ,also doing either a 2"-3" body lift. I don't mind the looks of the body lifts and spacer lift over suspension is fine for me for now . I'll upgrade when my shocks need replaced. So haters keep your comments. My only real question is how much body lift is doable without messing with linkage an shit. I heard the manuals have issues?!

Not hating, just informing. Blocks will just make your truck ride hard, and can break. But spacer lifts are bad. They can cause lots of probs just so you know. Breaking springs, breaking shocks, it can make your tires wear bad, and some other stuff. Spacer lifts really shouldn't be used, especially if you plan to offroad

No I understand! This is a daily driver. Very minor off road. And when I for wheel it I don't rump it or jump it. Just smash through the dunes. Crawl up muddy trails an sometimes see snow!

If I do add a leaf in the rear? I think it's 1.5 " or 2" . Do I need to replace rear suspension? And. If not the spacer lift up front. Is there a recomended suspension I can get for only a few hundred dollars?

Sorry for dumb questions. I see the blis. 5100's are only bout 85-100$ each so close to 200$ for both fronts. With those we need diff drop?! Add a leaf in rear. We also need brake line extension?!. Does this all sound right and am I missing anything else? I'm also gonna look at the 3" body lift after this is installed.

I've done a mod or two
I have a 95 2.7 4x4 5-speed with 3.58 gears and 31in tires and it is a dog. The freakin' thing gets just barely more than half of its stock gas mileage and struggles to keep up with 70mph and can hardly do 65mph in a headwind. REGEAR!!! I love my Taco but it needs some gears, I'm hoping to buy someones old 4.10s or 4.56s for cheap and have a local shop that I trust put em' in. If you regear let us know how it goes. Also, welcome to TW.

5100s are real good setup. You can use your stock coils with them as well, or get new coils. Back extended brake lines are needed if you lift more the about 1"

You should look into bolt on horse power! U shouldn't be a dog with 31's at all. Timing change? Bolt on's... I won't regear. Not until I go full out with this truck.

My truck came with 225s so the 31s are pretty steep change for 3.58 gears, although I wouldn't mind a supercharger. :p
