Has anyone used a reman rack and pinion from CVJreman?

I need a new rack and I'm thinking this is a good middle ground between cheap parts store stuff and new OEM.

I don't seem to see the AAE rack on bmaparts website, and safari-ltd.com doesn't have prices.

Maybe my browser is acting up, ha.

It's called like Atlantic automotive enterprises, it's there. Might be labeled under prerunner, which is the same as 4x4. And I called safari ltd, they want $500. Also google a coupon code for bma, i got mine for $250 shipped

My current rack has some up and down play in it. All the alignment shops are giving me shit about it.

Yeah I took mine off truck with 277xxx miles. It was still perfect 2 months ago when I took off. Don't blame you for looking newer. Got friends in gulf shores alabama. You near there? Sure miss those crawfish, potatoes, and corn! Hope you find what you need close.

I always hated dealing with alignment shops.

went to one where I told them I need an alignment, they said they couldn't do it on mine because my inner tie rods were loose, charged me 45 dollars for an alignment diagnostic, meaning they told me that I need to get an alignment done.

After I replaced my rack and pinion I took it to the shop and they told me they couldn't do it for the same reason, loose inner tie rods. I've heard some bad things about using re manufactured rack and pinions, but never that they came with loose inner tie rods. I told them to pretty much do what they can, fuckers didn't even bother trying to get my steering wheel straight.

Yea these things piss me off. When I bought my current tires, I asked the place to do an alignment. They said they couldn't because I needed new inner tie rods. On my way home, I picked up new Moog inner tie rods, installed them, and went to a different alignment shop. They told me that they couldn't do an alignment because............I needed new inner tie rods. I told them that was funny, because those brand new tie rods were installed 15 minutes earlier. Their response? "Oh, well, your steering rack is bad".

Good thing I know a thing or two about vehicles and the way they work or I would have gotten taken for a ride.

I was just quoted $905 for a new OEM rack. I'm usually an advocate of sticking with OEM, but not this time around.

I have a call into CVJreman for one of their racks. I will also look into AAE. Anyone else have any luck with either?

Have you tried just replacing the rack bushings?
    That can help..

Replacing the rack and pinions is a shitty job.

I just ordered the 4 parts needed for this upgrade. ~$90......I'll upgrade the thread once I get them in and installed.

Looks like a good place to start. Nice and straight forward.

My rack had problems at the allignment shop cos it kept moving, I replaced the rack bushings and that made everything firm again. Got rid of play so I could get a good alignment. Also made my steering a lot more responsive.

Stick your head underneith the car to watch the rack as you move the steering wheel from side to side and see if you can see it moving noticeably. I could with mine.

I've already replaced the rack bushings. I'm getting moving inside the rack. I hope the new style rack guide fixes this. The dealer just called me that my parts are in and I'll installed them today and post back.

I installed the new style rack guide yesterday afternoon.

    1. The sway bar makes it a bitch tighten correctly.
    2. Steering is much tighter now.
    3. This has eliminated my driver side clunk. I'm still getting a clunk on the passenger side.
