Hey everyone first post on here. Doing my 100k maintenance on my 04 Taco. Going to be doing all the belts and the water pump as well (other stuff for tune up too). I was just wondering if everyone else went with a Toyota water pump or if there is a heavy duty replacement and if its worth getting all the belts and pulleys from them as well. Thanks!

I had it quoted at the dealer ( 3 different ones in the area) and 2 private shops (using aftermarket parts) and the dealers were less expensive than both of the private guys.
I am planning on taking mine to the dealer for that reason, and OEM parts. (I am at 98,000 miles now, so it's soon)

Edit: looks like you are going to do the work yourself. I would still do OEM for these parts.

+1 for OEM parts, regardless of who does the work.

I plan on doing it myself. Stubborn like that. I can go to the dealer for the parts right?

Definitely! You might also look around online. IIRC, there are a number of dealers who sell stuff at a discount via their web sites.

Sorry, not to threadjack but I'm kind of in the same boat except I've never did any major maintenance and I'm at 140k.
So all belts including timing belt?
    And a waterpump?
I think I run coil packs on the 2.7 so no need to upgrade those right?
And no spark plug wires I'm guessing.
So...anything else major I have missed?

Just oil change, filter, air filter, fuel filter, check tires, grease zerks, grease your drive lines, and just check your coil packs. Yes there should be an entire kit even for the 4 cyl...someone tell me if I missed something!

I'll have a look at the stealership.
I make several trips to Indiana and back and to be quite honest, I'm a little hesitant going in July unless I get exe things taken care of.

    Thx for the help.

    Edit. "These".

Doesn't 2.7 have timing chain? If it's not making noise , I wouldn't do chain or water pump. My 95.5 2.7 has 278xxx on original parts. Recently inspected. Still looks new. Mobil 1 always.

    Running Mobil 1 as well.
As far as your question...I'm not sure. I was thinking timing belt instead of chain.
    Guess I'm do some research.

Agreed. Single row chain. 3vz and 5vz= belts.
So don't even mess with it I'm assuming and just go with a waterpump?

There isn't anything wrong with your water pump,is there? It doesn't need to be replaced. Get your cooling system flushed though.

    Nothing that I know of.
Atleast not having to change timing chain and waterpump out saves me some money for exhaust system and o2/af sensors.
It's just that since I havnt done any major service, I'm a bit paranoid about traveling.

I'll stick with the other belts, coolant flush, oil/filter.
Trans service has never been done. Guess that's only about $75. I could treat it to a trans flush and filter.
And I have new springs for my locker and royal purple for the diff.
    Should be good to go.

Here is what the underneath of my valve cover looks like at 191.8K miles. Previous owner and I used Mobil 1.

Beautiful! My 2004 2.7 has 125,000. I did all the recommeneded service at 95,000 and then at 120,000. Its pretty nice not have a timing belt. From what I understand the timing chains on our trucks are pretty bullet proof.
