I took my truck to a local machine and he said it was the 4wd solenoid. I am trying to look up prices and stuff and I can't find anything regarding that search. Is that the correct turm to use or something else

Google search Tacoma Front Actuator Solenoid. You'll find pics and locations.

So it is the actuator solenoid. I thought it was two different things. I did rue each on here and I seen where there is a lot of problems with the actuator. The problem is well I think is the guy who owned it b4 me did not use it at all. I defently need it. I not a pavement princess

Hard to say without more info. You can disconnect the vac lines from the actuator and have someone engage 4wd while your fingers are plugging the lines. If you feel suction, the solenoid is working and the issue is the actuator. If there is no suction, its either the solenoid, line crack or fuse.

I should add that I wish they made a cable lock in order to bypass the vac lines. Yes, there is a dash light but I like having the tactile feel and knowing the front axle is locked up. Not to mention having the ability to engage 2WD Lo.

He said it was the solenoid. And said it was 600 bucks. I mean I trust the guy and he lives right down the road from us ur I can't believe that it is that much. I was going to get one out the junk yard be if I can prevent from doing that, that is what I want to do. So I was going to shop around and just look at prices. And I search 4wd solenoid and it bring up the exhaust solenoid or the one that is connected to the starter. If I want to put it in 4wd I just gotta get out open the hood and tap what he called the 4wd solenoid. He said the vacuum is fine but it just don't have enough power to go threw it.

Ah. Sounds like my old F-150. Previous owner never used 4wd and the actuator froze. If you look at a schematic, the actuator is the mushroom shaped diaphram attached to the axle. Should be no more than $100-$150.
