Engine randomly dies???

    3 inch lift with oversized tires.
    I have a 99' Tacoma that has been randomly dying while driving down the road. I haven't picked up on a pattern yet nor has the computer codes shown any problems. The engine just dies out on me randomly and periodically. If a restart is attempted right away it will start up but then just die again once the RPM's drop, but if giving a pause (even 30 sec.) then back on the road again. Happens a few times a week right now. Any suggestions???

    Fuel filter would be my guess. Clogs, kills the engine, let it sit for a minute, sediment settles and fuel flows again for a little while.

    Fuel filter or Mass Air Flow Sensor. The MAF Sensor is what kills mine. Happens exactly like yours.

    Front dome light added,light reminder added,door chime mod, added 2nd gen 4runner headrests,grey wire mod, 2lo mod, more later.
    Check all of your grounds under the hood,it's possible it's an electrical issue.Do you have a tachometer? Try to watch the tach when it dies,If your tach drops to zero when it dies it's most likely electrical,but the fuel filter could be the culprit as mentioned ^.

    Whats your exhaust setup?

    Does it just die instantly? or sputter and struggle then slowly die?

    140 amp alternator, Big 3 upgrade, Ultimate Headlight Mod, Trans Cooler
    Diagnostic port ground to the intake was loose on my v6 - acted like that until it actually lost the ground and went dead. Put some thread locker on and tightened it, no problem since.
