Got some smoked headlights from ebay and the current bulbs arent cutting it. I need something bright that wont break the bank and wont blind the other drivers.

    Option 1: Brighter bulbs
    http://www.amazon.com/Sylvania-Silv...=UTF8&qid=1396488710&sr=1-1&keywords=9003/HB2
    Pros: Cheap(ish) and bright
Cons: Dont last long and need to be replaced frequently

    Option 2: HID bulbs
    Something like this: http://www.amazon.com/XENTEC-Conver...8&qid=1396488392&sr=8-5&keywords=9003+hb2+hid
    Pros: Cheap(ish) and bright
    -Lasts longer
Cons: Dont like the blue light look

    Option 3: Led bulbs
Pros: Last long (dont know how bright they get)
Cons: Expensive and probably too bright
    Something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Newsun-1800lm...&sr=1-11&keywords=9003/HB2+Led#productDetails

Option 4: Retro fit mod... Way to expensive

I would go with the HID. If you have to replace the sylvania ones frequently then you will definitely end up spending more in the long run. Plus, i like the blue tint to them. Thats my opinion.

    :)

Do these Osram bulbs need the upgrade of the headlight wiring harness?

No. They're a direct replacement for OEM and require no wiring changes/upgrades.

6-8 months and mine were done.
That's driving to work every morning with the lights on (45-60 minutes).
IIRC, I was using these during the summer months, so I was not running lights on the way home in the evening.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not do drop-in HID.
Not only are they illegal, they scatter glare badly and blind oncoming drivers (and drivers in front of you). In California, CHP is cracking down on them.
They are dangerous and inconsiderate (and yes, I used to use them until I spotted my lights on a wall and saw how bad they were).

Do a proper projector retrofit if you want HID (and it does not have to be blue):

True story....HID's are meant to be used in projector lens assemblies with a shroud for high/low beam,or a dual projector assembly with one high and one low. any other use of them is completely inconsiderate, even with smoked lenses you'd still blind the hell outta people. If you do a retrofit, you can choose which temp range to get them in and so choose a color from yellow to violet through the spectrum range.

BTW: The shot above are the TRS D2S projectors, running the Philips 4300k lamps.
These are the same lamps that many automakers use in their OEM systems.
I would not go more "blue" than 6000k... and even that is pushing it.
8000k is WAY too blue and starts seriously cutting back the usable light.
