I just got told that 5100s do not work with the 2002 4WD Tacoma. It was from an offroad company that told me this. Can anyone confirm or deny this with experience? Thanks.

I'm getting some Billies for my 03 and after tons of research on them the only thing I can think of that they may be referring to is that on the first gens if you stay at stock height you're supposed to run the 5125s in the rear instead of the 5100s. Maybe they confused that information?

I think he was trying to sell you what they have on hand, or he was very ignorant. In which case he shouldn't be at the front counter.

01-04 tacoma rear shocks have the heim joint at both ends

05 and up only have the heim on the bottom. Top is just a nut on threaded rod.

$350... Nice price... I'm assuming they did not come with coils?
I may buy a set to use, when I send my ol Hoes out for a rebuild.

It is true that the billies 5100 will not work on the 01-04 tacoma With STOCK HEIGHT . It says on this link http://toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com...ont-shocks-and-matching-rear-shocks_p_94.html That they will work great if you have a 1 to 2 and a half rear lift so we will see . Im installing them next weekend . I cant imagine toytec one of the largest off road parts company for tacoma selling parts that dont fit when they say it will fit my year truck . Im sure they have gotten allot of complaints regarding this issue . If they dont fit then they owe me another set of rear shocks that will fit my truck ( I paid for four ) no big deal it will just be a hassle .

Generally this is correct, with the 5125's, I ran them before I lifted the rear but was well aware that any off roading was out of the question as they'd destroy themselves being too long for stock apps...

Im sorry but whoever told you this info should not be in the "offroading business" the 5100s work for 01-04 as i just got a set for my 04 and put them on last weekend and they did add some addition height but thats because i wanted them too and now im going to be adding eibachs to the mix. 5100s are good starters but there are 2 different size 5100s for the rear and then the 5125s. Good luck guys
