Painting my grill?

    Alright guys well i see a bunch of the 2nd gen guys painting their grills but i am going to do it to my 97.

    im painting all the chrome and on the corner lights just wanted to ask how many coats of black and clear coat should i use and how much spray paint should i get?

    getting there....
    on your grille and corners.....i'd get a can or 2 of adhesion promoter, then about 3 or 4 cans of duplicolor flat black....no need for clear coat man. that'd make it too shiny. wash the grille with dawn dish soap and a scotchbrite pad, and let air dry. clean the corners with scotchbrite pad and a lil water/soap and dry. cover the lens with blue painters tape as i did mine. use the adhesion promoter....about 3 or 4 coats on each cornewr and same on the grille. let it dry...3 minutes between coats. let last coat dry for 10 minutes, then spray the paint......light coats,let dry between each coat about 10 minutes. do about 4 coats of paint.

    HA HA you quoted me before I changed it. After I wrote that I didnt want to come across as an asshole so I removed my post. But really the search feature is there for a reason.

    yeah sorry about that i was running out the door to help my dad put trd seat covers on his 07 taco so yeah.

    just went to home depot they didnt have duplicolor didnt feel like driving around so i just bought some krylon but they didnt have adhesive promoter. what is the name brand that works the best i will go to lowes on the way to work

    i dont have that body still ;) but yeah it is the best looking for your body style :D

    just got done with 4 coats of adhesive promoter now onto the primer
