    Hi guys,
Long time reader, first time poster. Iv done some searching around but haven't found and answer to a question.
I'm looking to see if it would be possible to use the power going to one of the power outlets on the dash (not the cig lighter the ones below) and use that power on some lights I want to install. Anyone done anything similar?
    Thanks,
    Chris

Bellasaie, how would I go about doing that? Just pull the leads off of the back of the outlet?

You could do that or you could just use a wire tap, or just take a pair of wire strippers strip like 1/16 inch of wire off in the middle wrap new power wire that and use some liquid tape to seal it

So this is probably a very dumb question and I apologize ahead of time. I pulled the connectors for the outlets and found there to be 3 wires. A red (presumably power) and then a solid white wire and a white wire with a black stripe. Not sure what those two are. I am an electrician by trade but automotive is much different than industrial electrical work!

According to my FSM, the Red-black is power, and the white-black goes to ground. You may have 2 ground wires on one of the outlets.

What I did, was to use the outlets like Toyota intended. I bought a "cigarette-lighter power plug thingee" from Radio shack, wired my device to it, and plugged the thingee into one of the outlets. No hokey cutting and splicing.

    Thanks Rick,
And yes I have seen those plugs but I feel the hard wired look to B&S much cleaner and presentable
