So I found a local trans shop who will do a complete fluid exchange(not flush with a machine), and drop the pan and clean the filter, for $180. He recommended using a sythetic like Mobil 1, or even standard Dex, but I told him I didn't want to use anything but toyota fluid and that I would get some. Went to my local dealer and they don't stock any toyota trans fluid other then the WS. For any other trans they just use Mobil 1. So what would you guys do? Just use the standard Mobil 1 that the trans shop can get me, or order some toyota fluid?

Call Toyota customer service and get a recommendation.
Putting the wrong stuff in there is worse than leaving it alone.

The trans itself uses Dex II, but it's been superseded to like Dex VI I believe. The toyota dealer said they use Mobil 1 trans fluid for everything except the newer trans that take the WS fluid. The trans shop I'm goin to also recommended just using Mobil 1

By Mobil 1, you mean Mobil 1 meeting Dextron IV specs, right?

Pull the dipstick and the type of fluid you should use will be stamped on it. Just don't buy the cheap store brands. Mobil 1 is a good choice, just make sure its the correct type.

Mobil 1 is probably what I will go with. Amsoil is way too expensive. I just thought I would ask what people would do because I've read don't use anything but toyota fluid

P.S. The whole process should only take an hour.

It will take longer for me cause I'm having them install a trans cooler while they're at it
