Was this Taco equipped with the factory accessory towing setup?

If so - there should be inline fuses wired into the lines running back to the lamps.

As of 2003 (version of the factory accessory installation) there should be a total of four 5A inline fuses as follows:

    - Regular / Double Cab: Driver side rear cabin wall, behind the trim panel
    - XtraCab: Driver side, under the rear bench in the jack storage compartment

If your setup isn't the factory accessory one, I have no idea what you may or may not have ...

yes it was installed at the factory. and my truck is ext. cab. i went out and finally found those fuses. never knew they were there. turns out the tail light fuse was blown so i made a quick run to the parts store to pick up some 5 amps. R2'd the bad one and it worked like a champ. i had even called and asked the toyota place where those fuses were and no one could tell me. there is a hell of a lot more knowledge on TW than the toyota dealership themselves. thanks a lot
