so 3 years ago i replaced the EGR valve because i though that was the bad part that was throwing the code, turns out it wasnt and i gave up on trying to fix it after that and ive dealt with the CEL for the past 3 years but now I want the CEL gone.

Im using this little write up to check the egr but i get lost at step 13 when it tells me to apply vac directly to the EGR at idle. How do i apply vac directly to the egr?

You don't need to do that test (thats to test if the EGR valve itself is any good) since you have a brand new one. What code did you pull?

Excessive flow. After reading thread after thread im leaning towards the VCV for the egr. Rock auto has aisin ones for 40 bones.

FYI - When I first got my truck a few years ago, I had a CEL come on that indicated 'insufficient flow'. It turned out to be a faulty (dirty) EGR temp sensor (which tells the computer whether or not the EGR flow is 'sufficient'). I removed the sensor, cleaned it real good with solvent and a knife edge, and replaced it. Solved my problem.

However, since your problem is 'excessive flow', it might be a bad modulator. Those can be had at a picknpull fairly cheaply.

The 2RZ motors share the same EGR parts, those should be easier to find (in a 5-lug pickup).
