    hey everyone
I can't figure out why it does it but the truck will be running fine and then i will either come to a stop or just be idling and the truck will shut off, it will not start unless you take the key out and let is sit for ten mins then put the key in and it starts like nothing happend, the only thing i can think of is the air bags are dissconected, would that do it or am i missing something. also the diverside seat belt is also disconected, it was this way when i bought it. (the truck was rolled when i bought it)

No, the restraint systems (although incorporated with annoying alarms) cannot disable the vehicle. This sounds more like an ECU, Coil, or Injection issue. What happens when you try to restart it?

Me too. I suspect the issue is fuel related such as injection, flow or pump issues. Have you replaced or checked all fuel filters, if any? When your engine shuts off, does your ignition lights stay on? How may miles on your truck and what's your oil level like? Does it crank when you attempt a restart?

it does crank over. i have been collecting more info from the ppl i bought it from and have found out that the truck has been sitting and not started very much for about 6 to 8 months I have sense changed the oil and the truck seems to be running a lot stronger, there are 101236 miles on the truck now. I just filled the truck up with new fuel and am thinking about a addative, what would you recomend?
thanks guys i will keep you posted if i see any other changes

i checked the relay, and the filter mounted to the frame is there another fuel filter some where? I think that it is fuel, because i was told that it has been sitting.

ok guys i changed the fuel filter and while i had it apart i hooked a hose to the line coming from the tank to make sure the fuel pump is pump it was pumping a lot of fuel. so i put it all back togeother and it did it again. now my question is has anyone seen where a fuel pump gets hot and then just stops the truck for saftey? i can not figure this out for the life of me.

well i had a little time before work today and checked two thing's.
once the truck does die, with out turning the key off i took the spark plug out and turned it over, I DO HAVE SPARK. i reinstalled the spark plug turned the key off and then restarted the truck and listened for the fuel pump, once the truck died the pump will keep running for just a few seconds. I didn't have any more time to check into things till tomorrow. just wanted to see what you guys think i should do next? Also the truck dies really steady again runs for maybe 1 or 2 mins then dies.
one more thing I can't locate the stator valve on the fuel rail to hook a pressure gauge to does any one have a picture?

    thanks
    Rusty

You said you have checked the fuel filter. Have you changed it? My experience as an old shade-tree mechanic says you start with the cheapest things first. Clean the MAF and intake with carb cleaner, then put a can of good injector cleaner in the gas tank. Change the fuel filter. If it doesn't start and keep running after the first several tries, you may have something blocking the fuel line in the gas tank like mud, rust, etc. My guess is that it is not an electrical problem, since it will start up after a short while. Not likely to be bad gas, since bad gasoline doesn't get better after a few minutes of rest. Not likely a fuel pump, since they either pump or they don't, seldom intermittent. Electrical problems are seldom intermitent, unless you have wire that is shorting against the frame or something , but fuel system problems are often that way. A filter gets clogged and the engine shuts down, then the pressure behind the filter from the pump causes the gas to trickle past the clog, then the engine starts after a few minutes because enough gas has trickled past the clog to start it, but shuts down again when it runs out, start the cycle over again. Often gets worse as time goes on, because the clog gets more solid and less gas passes through. Good luck.
