I've had this vibration for years, but it's getting where I'm getting so tired of it, I'm thinking of selling the truck. I'm looking for suggestions. First off, the truck:
    allprominus1settled_c9ecb1324a8ef36c3bca4c548e0591c9591ff734.jpg
    1998 ex cab TRD
    3.4 5 speed
5100 w/ Eibachs on front, light racing UCA's
Allpro standard 3" leafs on rear w/ 2 leafs removed, 7100 short body shocks

    The vibration:
High frequency buzz at highway speeds, when accelerating or part throttle. It goes away completely when coasting in gear, but strangely comes back if I throw it in neutral.

    What I've done:
Tires, It's been there through three different sets of wheels and tires, that's not it.
I figured it was the center bearing, crawled under it to check it out, and found a one piece driveshaft. I pulled it and had a driveshaft shop replace the u joints and rebalance it. They said it balanced nicely.
I've tried replacing the trans mount, no change.
    diff drop, no change.
3 degree axle shims, no change
Both front axles have been changed.

    Any suggestions?

might be the drive shaft.. being a single part with no center bearing. or a bent shaft or not properly balanced.

You say it makes this noise in neutral/coasting as well ?? How about if you let off the accelerator, does it start as truck is decelerating & go away when you apply gas ??

I've heard no mention of the pinion bearing in rear diff, some of the conditions you describe point towards the pinion, did you check it when you dropped your driveshaft ??

I've had the driveshaft rebalanced, it is fine.
The vibration is there when coasting in neutal, makes no difference if I give it any gas. When in gear, it's completely gone when decelerating, but comes back immediatly if any throttle is applied. I'll pull the driveshaft and check the pinion bearing this weekend, thanks.

I slid under it to drop the driveshaft, but before I started cracking bolts loose, I grabbed the rear of the drive shaft to check play. Lots of movement in the pinion bearing, side to side, up/down, whatever. I'd say that's my problem.

Yeah, some of what you mentioned sounded familiar, plus you were running out of shit to check haha, Since you'll have to pull the 3rd out of it (diff) anyway get a complete bearing kit I paid about $180 out the door.

I will say that pulling the 3rd member out is pretty easy, I'd leave the diff job to a trusted shop especially if its a locker, unless of you can do it

Finally got the third member changed yesterday, and can say that I like my tacoma again. The pinion bearing was definitely the problem.
    Thanks to all that helped.
