(Posted this in the suspension forum also, but no luck)

I'm looking at swapping the leaf springs in my 1999 4wd Tacoma. Being cheap, I thought I'd look around locally and see if I could find a way to avoid spending $100 on shipping. A local spring shop has standard duty 4 leaf springs made by Triangle Suspension in PA. At $130 each seems a good price, but I don't want to go through the trouble of replacing just to put junk in. I'm also strongly considering springs from General Spring (but again, shipping is high).

Has anyone heard of or used springs made by Triangle Suspension?

FYI: Not looking to do a lift, just some occasional towing and minor offroad (dirt roads).

If your questioning your purchase its probably not a good idea. Save up and do it right the first time.

I bought General Spring, I didn't go for the heavy duty though. Anyways seeing how your from Pennsylvania, your U bolts, shackles, and eye bolts may be rusted badly. It may be worth it to wait and just get all new hardware. I was in the same boat as you, I wanted to replace my springs for as cheap as possible, but to save headaches, I decided to buy shackles, springs, everything. Shipping for my entire order for General Spring I think was $80? It was two leafs, shackles, bolts, weighed 100lbs.

I hope that's not the case, I question every purchase. I'm one of those guys that takes 20 minutes to buy deodorant.

I'm in AZ, the springs are made in PA. I already have new shackles and bolts waiting around for springs to hold together. It's a weekend truck so it makes it easier to "wait and see".

Triangle makes springs for the heavy duty truck market like semis and stuff. I used to deal with them when I sold them from the mom and pop truck parts place I used to work at. I don't know much about their quality, but I know we sold a lot of them.

Dang, I'm just saying that you should make sure you do it right the first time. I don't want you to spend money and just end up replacing it. I would go with something I know a lot of people use so I know its a good item. But that just my .02

do some interweb research and see if you can find anything out about them. Just because they're not very well known doesn't necessarily mean they're junk. If everybody always followed the flock then technology would never advance and we wouldn't have any of the nifty gadgets we have today, it just depends on if your willing to be the one to take that chance to find out if they're worth having or not.

I found this in some literature, but their website is pretty sketchy. Anybody near DuBois?

You may want to make a request on the Pennsylvania page, I think there are a few guys over there. Allegheny National Forest is near there.
