Looking for part number 89460-04020 for a 2001 2.4L. Toyota no longer supports this part and I have not been able to find it (yet) on the 'net. Doing a search gives results but then I hear back from the vendor saying that they can't get it.

    I'm open to suggestions.

    Thanks!

Thank you for that. How did you find the compatible part?

I sell parts for a living so I have all kinds of interchange lists.

I'd definitely go OEM on emissions sensors, but if you can't find it, then the one I posted up will do the job, just might not live as long.

Need it because of code P0450. Further inquiry shows the sensor malfunctioning.

The good news is that my mechanic was able to locate a used sensor from a junkyard in Redding, CA. It's supposed to arrive today.

If that does not come through, I'll look into the MAP sensors available at Summit Racing.

With so many Tacomas on the road, it does seem odd that the part is not supported in some way.

The junkyard part has a different number (89460-04010 92613) than the original (89460-04020 12061) but we installed in anyway because we had it in hand and there was no downside that we could think of. Even though we swapped the part in close to a week ago, I have not driven more than 10 miles (3 or 4 short trips) since, so the fact that there is no CEL yet does not mean much.

The code/sensor issue is in my 2001 2.4 2wd Tacoma. I have another truck, my desert rig, which is a 1999 3.4 4x4 Tacoma. It has a very similar part (89460-0410 91463) that appears to be identical except for the numbers. It's possible that it could be interchangeable.

I'll add a note that the third set of numbers in the parts I've listed is something called a PCN (or something similar), used as a code to locate parts more quickly. I learned this today at the dealer.

    None.
I know this is an older thread but I just went through this same thing.

However, I have a 2000 Tacoma 3.4L V6 and the vapor pressure sensor was bad (Toyota Part Number 89460-04010). The bad vapor pressure sensor was throwing the P0450 code. The dealership discontinued the vapor pressure sensor and there is no aftermarket part available as I was told as well. My vapor pressure sensor is located on the drivers side firewall with one bolt and bracket to fasten to the firewall, one vacuum line and one wire harness which snaps on the vapor pressure sensor.

There is a workaround part. I am using a new vapor pressure sensor off of a 2000 Tundra (Part Number 89460-0C010). No more P0450 code. I also understand the Camry and Lexus LS300 use the same vapor pressure sensor as the Tacomas (Same 89460 Part number but different last set of numbers) and different brackets which can be removed. I used my bracket and slid off the old bracket and installed the new vapor pressure sensor and done deal. So heads up all. The vapor pressure sensors are for the most part interchangeable for the Tacoma with the Tundra, Lexus LS300 or Camry. Do not let a discontinued part get you down.

Thanks for the information. This worked for my 3.4L V6 Tacoma Prerunner. CEL on...Diagnostic code P0450. I put on a
1992-96 Toyota Camry Vapor Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor 89460-33020 OEM 3.0l ES300 and the issue was fixed. Bought on Ebay. The CEL is off and no more P0450 code. Truck Passed NC state inspection two weeks after putting on the 89460-33020 vapor pressure sensor.

Anyone find a pic of where this is located on our trucks? My 2000 PreRunner 3.4 just started showing this code.

Try replacing the fuel filler cap. Fixed a family members 98 Tacoma V6 that has an unobtainable evap sensor.

If the fuel cap doesn't work maybe following these troubleshoot procedures will help.

The new fuel cap did the trick... at least for now. No more code.
