Looking for some bucket seats out of a 4x4 or 4runner for my first Gen.
Disappointed with the original buckets without adjustments and the typical wear on the drivers seat and flimsy plastic rail covers that pop off all of the time. Time to upgrade.
Aftermarket racing seats with the cost of the brackets about the same cost to reupholster.
Wondering if a later model seat will bolt to the side mount brackets on the original rails?
Got a quote for 900 to recover the originals. OUCH
Any aftermarket success stories with lessor that 900 buck investment would be appreciated

Both are Stock - built correct from the start.
We put a set of salvage yard 2002 4Runner buckets into my sons 1997 Tacoma. He went from a bench to the buckets. He had to drill a couple holes to bolt up the seats. He used the 4Runner brackets. I've heard you can swap the Tacoma brackets though. He went from bench seat stock Tacoma to leather buckets with door panels for $175. All items had to be modified very slighly to fit but looked great.

I'm very courious about this as well. My stock drivers seat has a bit of wear and while it's still looks ok the support is basically gone. I'd really like to know if the Gen 2 seats would fit. A set out of a later TRD sport would be nice.

I ended switching mine out for a set of Recaros. They were used off of eBay but in great shape. I had to get a set of brackets from Wedge Engineering in Long Beach CA.

I swapped in a pair of buckets from a member here's prerunner when he did a full cage. Don't remember what I paid but it was under $200. I had a bench seat so I had to drill 2 holes but it was easy. Definately the best mod I've ever done
