Hi I have a 1996 Toyota Tacoma 2.7 4x4 since January I have replaced the fuel pump 3 times and now going on my 4th and replaced the fuel filter and fuel pump relay. The last pump was a Bosch.should I have the gas tank boiled and cleaned and put a whole new fuel pump assembly and pump in again.

Not sure of your situation-but-have you checked the RETURN LINES?
my son had a similar problem in his CAR-the return lines were clogged.-Just a thought!

Can you visibly see gunk in your filter when you replace?

The question is of course what has caused the multiple failures. I would want to see how the most recent pump looked when it was removed. May be time for a new tank. I wouldn't waste my time cleaning it. Once the internal protective coating is damaged, it will just continue to rust.
