My 04 tacoma (3.4L) threw these two codes today at the same time. Just curious if anyone has seen anything like this and if they could possibly be related? I read a little bit about the p0705 code in 05 trucks and it doesn't sound good but couldn't fine much about a 04 truck. I read a little about the transmission sensor but couldn't find the part so I'm assuming it is internal? Any suggestions to try before taking to a mechanic would be appreciated. Thanks!

    Here's some info I found.
p0705 - Transmission Range Sensor Malfunction
    Possible Causes:
    -Faulty Park/Neutral position switch
    -Misadjusted Park/Neutral position switch
-Park/Neutral position switch is open or shorted
-Park/Neutral position switch circuit poor electrical connection

p0456 - EVAP Control System Leak Detected Very Small Leak
    Possible Causes:
    -Missing or loose fuel cap
    -Incorrect fuel filler cap used
-Fuel filler cap remains open or fails to close
-Foreign matter caught in fuel filler cap
-EVAP canister or fuel tank leaks
    -EVAP system hose leaking
    -Fuel tank leaking

Also for the p0705 code, the park/neutral position (PNP) switch includes a transmission range switch. The transmission range switch detects the selector lever position when the shift lever is in the N or P shift position and sends a signal to the Transmission Control Module (TCM).

My 2003 just threw this code and won't shift up out of second. I've heard it can be throttle position, gear shift solenoid, or PRNDL input sensor.
