I have a 2001 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 v6 and it's a very good truck. I got 250,000 miles on it and hope to put another 100,000 on it. What I have noticed for some time is that when cranking the truck it takes about four cycles of cranking for the truck to start. Now don't get me wrong it starts up every time but takes a little cranking to do it. Anybody got any idea on why this is the case. I got a hot battery and new plugs in it. Thanks Rick

ah, I think that's normal...??? At least for mine. It takes probably 2-3 seconds of cranking to turn over. And that was true with a 5 year old battery and a brand new battery.

Mine fires up in less than a second.. it could be the lower compression of an older motor. Could be a fuel pressure issue? Maybe ur starter motor is weak?

3-4 turns to start my 01 double cab. Seems normal to me. I am running a new Diehard battery.

Kind of what I had read on the net was that a lot of people had this problem with the 2001-2004. Seems like there was a recall on 2003-2004 for a wiring issue but not sure it fixed the problem. Oh well it starts so that is what really matters. Thanks Rick
