Here's my post in the new member section with some pictures of my truck.

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/new-members/340782-new-al-1996-regular-cab-4x4.html

It's a 96 or 97 lol 4cyl/5spd/4x4 reg cab. 205,000mi Got a few questions on some repairs that it needs. Plans for the truck are just to daily drive it, use it for hunting, and some light off-roading. Later down the road I'd like to do a SFA swap but right now just want to keep it reasonable for daily driving and good gas mileage.

    1. What do y'all recommend for factory replacement leaf springs and shocks?

    2. Replacement ball joints?

    3. Low beams don't work but high beams do. Could it just be the bulb? Never had a bulb do that before.

    4. How well do these 4cyl tow? I pull an aluminum 1654 with a Beavertail surface drive every other weekend dec-jan. I usually pull it with my sierra but it'd be nice to have the option to use this. I think it's a little too much for it though. That sucker feels heavy but idk what it's actual weight is.

1 - Old Man Emu aka: OME
2 - OEM Toyota manufacture ball joints are the ONLY way to go.
3 - I dunno - bulbs are an easy & potentially cheap way to check/fix
4 - look up the towing capacity of the 4 cyl. being careful of reaching max capacity because once you get it moving, you also have to be able to have a controlled stop.

Good luck and welcome to TW!

Ain't nobody got time for that.

You can always tell the attitude of a forum by how quickly the question police come around. Thanks for being polite about it though.

Bowyer, thanks for the help I'm sure it didn't take any longer for you to answer than it did for him to direct me to other forums.

Really dude ?? I'm not a cop first off & it's a simple matter of reading /following directions, being respectful to the Admin's wishes who has clearly stated such ......

This section is for introductions only! Ask actual questions in the appropriate forum

Or you canPM TCBob (admin) & get his thoughts on it....

You can always tell how long a newb is going to last when they come in disregarding the terms of use & code of conduct

Calm down chief. It's just the internet. Don't have a heart attack.

You're over there spazzing quoting forum rules from the new member forum when this is posted in the 1st gen section.

What was that about simple matter of reading?

    Ignore him.

You posted an appropriate post in the appropriate forum.

There's at least 20,000 others like it in the 1st gen forum.

bowyer expresses my exact sentiments to your questions. I just recently put on a full OME suspension (mild lift) and love it.

    Welcome to TW... it's a great forum/community.

Not terrible in cost, gets a 2 inch lift and rides good. If I could do it by myself, you can too.

Thanks for the advice guys. I've always worked on my own stuff and I'm pretty mechanically inclined so I'm not worried about difficulty just wanted to hear from y'all with experience with the products. Thanks again.

I'm sure 4WD meant well I was just givin him a hard time.

What size tire are you running and averaging 21.4 MPG

This truck has 31's don't know what the rear gear is. I'm anxious to see what it gets.

31x10.5 r15 and I have the 4.10 gears. My truck is also the 5-speed manual.

And before Ben jumps all over my nuts about the accuracy of that number, my new tires have my speedometer pretty much dead nuts accurate. Only when I get to 75 mph (which is rare) does it read 0.5 - 1.0 mph over.

And my fill ups' mpgs since the new tires:

    21
    24

on the headlight issue I'd check the fuses under the hood first thing, I had a blown headlight fuse and it did some weird stuff with the lights. If they check out then move on to bulbs. I towed a 4 seater sidexside on a steal trailer up a winding mountain road into the hills with my 97 4 banger and she handled it fine so I'd think an aluminum boat would be ok, but don't tow it if your not comfortable with it.
