I'll bet the nut wasn't staked properly or at all, plus those suckers got to be torqued fairly tight too....did you use a torque wrench when doing the deed?

the dents in everything are superficial, matching a different back half of the driveshaft it would be prudent for you to have the whole shaft rebalanced...

I believe a peerunner rear driveshaft should interchange too....

    good luck...

i used a matco impact gun to put the nut back on. im not positive that i staked the nut, so that is a possibility to be the cause of the demise of my rear drive shaft.

thanks for telling me i need to rebalance the whole shaft. ill have the same guys who do that, look at the bearings.

i spoke with my local toyota dealership, unfortunately the person i spoke with was little help, and it seemed like she wanted to get off the phone quickly.
-basically i was told that i need to look for a 95-00 4 cyclinder 4x4 model. she couldnt specify if i needed xtended cab, or reg cab model, if it matters at all.

Changing the carrier is going to be a lot cheaper than a Woods shaft

Thar ya go, I think theres a stake nut involved, nut must've backed off on you stake nut or not...

The best way for any of us to help is for you to take a tape measure and measure from the front of the rear section (Say from the carrier) to the rear diff flange (NOT the parts still bolted, but the actual flange itself on the rear diff) This way those of us who DO have a spare driveshaft around can measure what we have available, and know if it will work or not.

From those 2 photos you posted (post # 7 and 8 ), it looks like the rear diff flange is still in place, so the staked nut is not the culprit.

It looks to me like the rear-most u-joint exploded, separating the rear drive-shaft from the flange. I assume that the shaft then somehow pulled out of the center-bearing and fell to the street.

OR ... the ds initially separated from the center-bearing, dropped to the street, attempted a catapult, and grenaded the rear-most u-joint.

the measurement from the diff flange(flange on diff that meets the flange on the rear most part of rear driveshaft) to the inner lip of the carrier bearing(where the drive shaft goes into the carrier bearing) is 38 inches.

so you didn't back track a bit and find the shaft? There may have been a chance it was salvagable if it wasn't bent to hell, atleast good enough to get by until you found a new one
