So today I washed my car and changed the oil, I started up the truck after the oil change and I heard a belt squeak, like the timing used to do. I start to drive and when I go to accelerate the engine revs go up but the car doesn't move until the revs go back down and it lurched forward as it got into gear. This happens at a couple more lights and after breaking for more than a couple seconds. Any ideas on what happened pretty much over night or what's going on.

check two things, first, the oil level and the transmission fluid level...

you wouldn't be the first to drain the tranny and then add 5 more quarts of oil to the engine...big trouble if driven...

you could blow tranny from lack of fluids, and too much oil will blow seals quickly...

The fluid that came out was dark brown and the same that was in the oil filter so im fairly sure I changed just the oil, I'll check my transmission fluid in the morning. There was a hissing sound that got louder and then stopped but that was more than 100 miles ago. Thanks for the replies

as long as you drained from the plug under the skids you should have done it right. if you drained from behind the skids you dun it wrong

also trans fluid would be dark cherry/brown in color

The reason for my comment was based on an assumption that may or may not be true...what I got from your OP was that everything was okay prior to changing the oil, but after done, the transmission was acting up.......

depending on how the tranny was treated, or mistreated, and its age in tear and miles, the fluid coming out could be rather dark in color, very similar to engine oil...

    I apologize< I shouldn't have assumed...

Anyway, did your tranny work before the change, and not work properly after?

This whole thread, post #1, washed car, changed oil...then the automatic tranny won't engage?

post #10, flushes transmission, refilled fluids and working great?

I still suspect, based on what I read into these posts, that the tranny was drained in error, it can't be a coinenkydink....

anyway, glad to hear it is shifting like it should now...
