Yeah pretty much, someone had mentioned about having to tool up for a SFA option, keep in mind Toyota was tooled for SFA long before IFS came along, & unless I miss my guess here, isn't it harder to go from SFA to IFS? ( if one was so inclined to do a swap) Having come from the SFA world for years & years & benefitting from having my IFS for the last 6 years or so, evaluating is easy for me but still subjective to one's preferrence, I'd take a solid axle any day, not concerned about mobbing a sandwash at 80mph

Haha, can't be, thats rusted steel not plastic....:D

Exactly! Some people have different needs and a certain truck suits them better, not hard to understand. Funny how 2nd gen owners get so mad when a 1st gen works for better for someone else though

This is so worthless. To each his own. My 96 reg cab with 2.7 has 282,000 on original timing chain, original clutch, and now a rustbullet frame redo. 2nd gens haven't been around as long to compare. Any tacoma is a good choice in smaller trucks. I would have both gens if I could afford.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
I am selling my 2nd gen to get a 1st gen double cab... I want more power, room, and a V6, tired of 4 cylinder gutlessness!

First gen is far superior because my square cup holders can hold cartons of milk far better than your round ones!

I like both, as long as they are tacomas. I hav the reliable 4 banger, but I sold a good dodge 1500 to buy my Tacoma so..... they both hav there differences but I like the 1st gen smallness and the 2nd gen power and interior. My sister has a 2010 regular cab 2wd with the 4 banger, its really nice.

Lets see. Had a '83 mud truck. '99 Taco '04 Taco. '12 Taco...
    3 2nd gen Tundras.
The '83 was the toughest, blue Tundra the fastest, silver Tundra the most comfortable, '04 kicked ass off road, '99 got traded in on '04, the '12 has all the good attributes of most of the trucks, no of the bad. So I think Toyota is making products to sell.
However, a straight axle front and rear locker supercharged V-6 reg cab off road would be cool...
