    Hey Tacoma folks..

I was about to buy rear brake shoes for my V6 4x4 2004 TRD Tacoma..

    I see 2 sizes:

    Wagner - PAB764: 11-39/64 x 1-31/32" Brake
    &
    Wager - PAB505: 10 x 1-31/32" Brake

Anyone know what size I need and why 2 different sizes available??

I am unable to tell as they both say they fit my truck...

    Thanks..

Not sure where your looking to buy, but if you get them at Toyota, they will give you the correct brakes when you give them your vin # off the truck.

    Just a suggestion. Good luck.

so I guess no one who answered my question has recently bought rear brake drums...

Dave... if going to the dealer was a bargain, we would all go there and life would be great...BUT... I don't like way over-paying for things.. so I go to rockauto or Amazon or places like that...

I guess I will measure the drum...

weird there are two sizes available... on rockauto's website... both are for the 2004 Tacoma...

Chauncy measure the diameter of your drums. My taco is also a 04 4x4 v6 TRD like yours and i have the larger 11" brake drums. I just upgraded my front to tundra brakes on my taco so i figured i'll replace my brake shoes & hardware at the same time. I like the wagner thermo quiet pads & shoes but when i looked at the box the shoes are made in china. The wagner hardware kit is USA made so i purchased them. So i checked with a couple of our parts suppliers (i'm a auto tech) and all the shoes for my application are chinese. Parts guy told me "good luck finding usa made shoes." Local toyota stealership our shop has a account with wants over $80 bucks for the shoes and they have to be special ordered. I'm skeptical about installing chinese brakes on my truck that i use for towing my camper/atvs so i may shell out the $$$ for oem toyota shoes. It's a shame!

Hey twisted 99, is yours also a 4x4? I am looking at doing my shoes and had the same problem. I noticed that a 2wd is 5 lug and the 4wd is a 6 lug. This is my guess for the 10 or 11 inch pads

The only way your VIN is going to be really accurate is if you owned the truck from new .

I sometimes go to my dealer and give them 3 different VIN`s for one truck to get the correct parts
