looking at 95 Tacoma, will Toyota fix frame?
I was searching for info on 1995 Tacoma frames, originally to see if they were a unibody frame or not. Apparently there was a voluntary Toyota recall of the frames and they would either fix them or buy the vehicle back. Seems to me, as far as I can figure out, that the offer would have expired in 2010 for the 1995 Tacoma, the end of the extended 15 year warranty period they offered as part of the resolution to the problem. So what does that mean as I look at this 1995, frame never fixed by Toyota, Tacoma? Am I on my own for this repair or will Toyota still help repair or purchase the vehicle? I'm pondering a rough running, been sitting a year, Tacoma extra cab 4x4 with 100,000 miles. Dude's asking 1,200. How much is the repair or replacement of the frame going to cost? A ballpark figure. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I'm thinking a full tune up and thorough going over by expensive but good Toyota mechanic, ($500-$2,000???) could get me a good truck at a decent price. But of course, you need a solid frame.

If the frame is compromised from rust then stay away from it.

Toyota will not do anything about it for a 1995.

Any way the frame can be professionally repaired, if its not too bad? I'm hoping to climb under and look around at it tomorrow. You can see fro the pic the body is pretty rust free, except for the tailgate.

Check all over the frame but especially around the rear leaf spring hangers. That's where they seem to be most susceptible.

Bring a hammer with you too. Bang on the frame. If you put a hole in it.... run.
