If it was posable I think more people would be doing it. In most cases though you will need about a 3" lift and wheels with less backspacing and or wheel spacers so you can clear the upper control arm or some major cutting to the body which i don't think you want todo judging from your question. personally I would save some money and buy a good 3" lift, wheels, and diff drop (if 4x4) and do it right the first time as having to redo work just sucks and is more expensive in the long run. that is my take at least.

    you're not serious right?

read through the Wheels n Tires section.
    use the search tool.

short answer; not without tubbing the hell out of your wheel wells.

Negative. No need to tub for 33s.just rip out the plastic wheel trim, then beat the fuck out of the pinch weld area.

If you run 10.5" wheels you can get away with factory wheel spacing. 12.5s will need about 3.5" of bs

Still willing to bet that tire will eat the inner wells if offroading & in a corner tho'..

I hate back spacing, FWIW I never heard of BS & all its references until I got here...

Unless a lift limits up travel 33's won't fit any better than they would without a lift. I'm running about 2 1/2" of lift up front 3" in back and some sledge hammer work in front and minor cutting front and rear with 285/75/16 Goodyear MT/R's on stock TRD wheels with 1 1/4 wheel spacers and they still rub a little in front but not enough to bother me. Would have to tub or maybe install 1" body lift to get no rubbing at all.

A lot depends on your driving style, the big thing about 33's on a Tacoma is not the lift but the size of the wheelwell which is pretty small so if you drive hard and bury your tires in the wheelwells then you need a proper lift. As for rubbing on the UCA's that is more a product of backspacing and the width of the wheel, not enough width gives a bulge in the sidewall that will rub. Standard backspacing is 4.5 inches so if your wheel and tire setup keeps the distances the same as stock the UCA shouldn't be a problem but it all comes down to the size of the wheelwell. I would suggest that you find someone with a set of 33's you can put on to size the situation up then you will see what everyone is talking about.

that was a simple question about the validity of his question. you see without tone, you added your own assumed tone to my question, in turn changing it's neutrality into negative commentary :D

in added response to this thread, I doubt the plastic is the only thing 33's will hit when at full flex and full lock turn. I understand that removing all of the plastic and altering the pinch weld will allow for wheel travel in MOST situations on the road, however, once off road and on a surface where no two tires share common ground it would become readily apparent that more trimming and even some cutting and rewelding would be necessary to gain FULL wheel travel in all directions, at all positions.

but of course, everyone is fixated on starting a pissing contest rather than answering the original question.

OP, if you do not off road and are content with rubbing on occasion then you can run 33's and cut or trim your wheel wells accordingly.

Not bad, hit all the Key points, especially the 33" reference, I've never seen so many different sized 33"'s (or claims of) One manufacturers "33" will be noticeably larger or smaller than another, yet ALL will claim theirs is a 33".... Can't win, I blame it on the metric system...;)

IIRC, Interco, Dick Cepek, and a handful of the 'boutique brands' run true to size. All others tend to fudge a half to three-quarters. Guess marketing tires is like marketing condoms. Heck, rubber is rubber, no?

    1) Ahhh, so before you answered, you were asking him if he was a troll? Or were trying to stultify him? Either way, not called for in polite conversation.

    2) I try not to pretend to know what others may feel or think, so I only answer from my point of view. Helps to avoid misunderstandings. So yes, that was how I saw it.

    3) Once again, we can only see from our point of view, so read what you posted in three.

Again, if you feel people are not being duly polite when they respond to you, perhaps they viewed your response as impolite. So, in conclusion, if everyone goes above and beyond to be polite, your assumption in number three will never become an issue, will it? ;)

I agree. I went back and changed part of it when I realized it was too harsh.

Haha , yeah thats what I always thought as well, but you're right about "true to size" companies, My Cepeks were 36.5" x 14.50" x 15" & 38.5" x 14.50" x 16.5" you could throw a tape on it & the numbers jived

You KNOW I fucking hate it !! We didn't have those kinds of issues, if your truck was high enough (was never a problem my Dodge was 7" over stock) & they fit reasonably in the wells, you ran them, usually with no issues

It's like squeezing that last inch out of an IFS, it can be done but its going to cost you $$$ & worse all the labor hours to get it, you just dont care anymore , not worth the cost or hassle....:p
