The CS019R is made only for 1997 and earlier truck. It is shorter than 98-04.

Yeah, I understand that, but you said nitrochargers will break on Dakars. I'm curious about that. Can you be more specific?

If you want a copy of the 100+ page arb catalog pm me your email address. It gives far more detail than the website gives now.

I used the 60062 shock with the dakar pack, no shackle and it overextended. When I put the leaf pack in, I had to compress the leaf pack at least 1/2 inch to connect the shock..... = shock to short. Then after wheeling a bit, they were wasted. Gonna screen shot the 2012 arb catalog in a sec. I put the shock info in my build if I remember. I upgraded to 5125s from DSMS and love them.

Here are the leaf packs in my build:

Huh, interesting, what is the alleged lift height of the CS019Rs?

Seems really odd that ARB does not specify this anywhere, but some of their site info is clearly lacking on shock specs/travel. Did you ever call ARB tech about it?

    edit: we simulposted...

Yeah. They gave me the run-around. I ended up with @ 3-1/2" lift when I put the leaf pack in originally. That was with the cap. I am a regular cab truck though but the down flex will be the same as a extra cab.

Adding shackles I used the Bilstein 5125 11" offroad shock. Without the shackles I would have used a 9 or 10". The OME shock is 23.11" extended. The 5125 9" is 24.35" extended.

Holy crap. For the 98-04 X or DC the Dakar without AAL is 2.25. Yeah I was scratching my head over the fact that you are a 4-banger single cab, but that can be a factor to your failure. In the end, droop is droop.

So, will the 5100 rear not work with the Dakar(CS019R) packs??

cdj1 - did you pull a leaf out?

Look at the specs on the extended length of the 5100 for the Tacoma. I pulled an overload leaf out, then put it back. The height difference in negligible.

The 5100 that is made for the truck (with a 3-4" lift in the rear):

    5100 spec for Toyota truck
    Part# 24-185752 collapsed length 16.00" extended length 25.63"

It recommends using different bumpstops in the catalog.

Hard to find specs... wheelers list the part number for their rear 5100's as D559/D560 which you cannot find on their specs sheet. Must be the same part though because they don't even list a rear shock for first gen tacoma's on the billy spec sheet - just the pick up (which is 5752).

Yeah. Most places will guess for you. The best thing to do is measure what you need and order it. That is why I went with 5125 bilsteins from down South motorsports. $80ish each and free shipping.

If Bilstein still makes the 5125's for 1st. gens. DSMS could get them in just about any length requirement spec'd. Generally for 3"-3.5" lift you'd want approx. 9" travel. anything above that up to 4"-4.25" you'd want 10", that is if they still do it...

if you were to sell your first born son, then you could have a set of these... This is how they sit with a cbi swing out, full skids, arb front, winch, campershell, insert and refer.
