I've searched the forums and not found much that pertains to my problem. I have a 1996 sr5 3.4l manual trans and transfer case, 4wd is add. I changed the clutch and now my pickup won't engage in 4wd. All vacuum lines are connected except for the lower end of the breather hose. The sensor in the transfer case is plugged in and the fuse is good. Any help would be appreciated.

Check all your vacuum lines and electrical connectors. It's super easy to miss the electric connectors on top of the tranny.

Your positive the diff isn't working? Like you have had it off the ground to watch the wheels turn?

You can also check the actuator

I haven't jacked it up but I put it up on a hill and rear tire was spinning with nothing up front. I'll go back and have to double check it out. Any tips on how to test the actuator? The 4wd light doesn't come on so maybe there is no signal going to the actuator when the transfer case is in 4.

Good time to do the Grey-wire mod if you havent yet. I had issues with re-seating my J-shifter correctly when I replaced my clutch.

If the light isn't coming on. A connector is not hooked up right is my guess. Very easy to miss since you can't see shit on top of the tranny anyways haha been there

    96s didn't have e lockers. Well..VERY few did.

Swapped the transfer case plugs around and there she went. Four wheel drive is working fantastic.

    I wish a had a rear end that I could grey-wire mod.

I just put a different engine in my 96. Having the same issue. What do you mean you swapped the transfer case plugs??
