    Hi Folks.
I just put a deposit on a 2001 Tacoma 2.4 today. New frame installed by Toyota last month new springs and braked. My wife drove it because Im a disabled wheelchair user and need hand controls to drive but it drove good no prob seems to have ok power for a 4 cyl . I bought a 4 cyl because any of the 6cyl for sale were way too high for me to get up into.Even tho the 4cyl is still a little high I can just about get in and get the wheelchair in the cab as well.
So Im will be driving from MA to OK. It is about 1600 miles give or take a few. 2 or 3 days. I have read the other forms about tow capacity but nothing I could find about long haul tow. Between my 5x8 (600) landscape trailer and my total gross cargo (1400) total load max 2000 LBS.
Will this 4 cyl be ok over 1600 miles 2.5 days .

Grey wire and keyless entry. I like stock.
That's a lot of weight behind a weak engine. Don't expect to go 70, but it'll do okay getting there. If its an auto, make sure it has a cooler and is locked out of od. If its a manual, say goodbye to fifth gear because you're never going to see it on that trip.

Hi, It has its factory cooler . Should I add a tranny cooler? I thought a 5 x 8 landscape trailer weighed 1800 lbs but I was looking and found that the type of 5 x 8 trailer Im looking at only weighs about 600 lbs empty..So Im well under max weight.
My weight should be about 2000 lbs. If I can go 60 mph Ill be happy.Thank you for the info.

If you tow at all, a cooler is good to have. I'm not saying your truck cant do it without, but I'd like the insurance of knowing it has one if it was my truck.

Ok great. I was going to get a tranny flush and I think I shall get a tranny cooler to be safe. I can get a Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/Barb Inlets for $62. Any ball park figure on how much one will cost to install. Again thank you for the info.

I understand if you can't maneuver to do it. With that being the case any shop should be able to do it in an hour give or take. The grill is all that has to be removed.
