I was going 60mph on the interstate when I was hit on the tailgate of my 99 Tacoma 4x4 and the emergency brake is now stuck in the off position and I can't pull the lever to apply it now. The cabling looks ok so could the hit caused something to jam in the rear brakes somehow? I can drive it but there is a very slight grabbing of the brakes I can feel when I start to move from a stop position. The dealer and the insurance adjuster said they have never heard of this before.

Grey wire and keyless entry. I like stock.
I mean, yeah. The ebrake isn't a very complex system. Have someone in the truck and try and apply the brake. Get under the truck at the same time and see where the kink is. Its probably at where the parking brake connects outside the drum backing plates or its inside the drum itself. Either way, this shouldn't be a hard problem to fix.
