Hi new member Ive been lurking on this forum for a couple months. Seems like aa pretty good group of people. I have a question for the community about the e locker. Was that only an option for the oof road models or did it also come on the SR5?

Not an 'option', but standard on the Off Road TRDs.

I know it came standard with the TRD package but are you certain it was never an option for an SR5 optioned truck?

My 93 sr5 does not say TRD on it anywhere that I have found but it has an e-locker, progressive front springs and factory bilstein/Toyota shocks. I guess it is a TRD in disguise?

It was available as a stand alone option on the Tacoma starting in 97 or 98, rare but they are out there.
Along with the "TRD" package, many of the "Limited" packages had it as well.

Before that... like '97 or '98, I believe. My 2001 was an Off Road TRD, and it was not the first year for that package.

    YES.

The primary reason for the Off Road Package was the locking differential, followed by the Bilstein shocks... Since 2009 it would be also for the A-TRAC system (locker-like traction control on the front and rear).
