Hi guys, hopefully there are some knowledgeable people here that can help me with a very frustrating problem.

Couple weeks ago I had some "mobile technician" come and install a remote starter. He came to my work place to work on the truck and said that it would probably take him 1.5hr to install my brand new prostart remote starter on my 2003 Tacoma v6 auto. 4 hours later the install was a failure. He removed what I believe was the factory alarm on the truck. And attempted to install the remote starter.

long story short the truck doesn't start and and my engine keeps flooding. I have removed his remote starter installed which was not complete. Now my truck is not starting, the engine keeps flooding and it does crank over. I removed the spark plugs to unflood the engine and gas came out of the holes when I crank the engine. When the key is on position 2 fuel just sprays into the cylinders, I have tested the ignition system and there is no spark. A mechanic friend of mine also came by to help me troubleshoot this issue, he says all the wiring looks OK from what he can see and we have power going to the ignition coils ignitor but no signal from the ECU telling it to create a spark. EFI relay seems to be ok and so do all the other fuses.

Could it be that the factory alarm was tied into the ignition system somehow iand this guy cut the wires? What could be causing this no spark condition. Also I tried connecting my elm Bluetooth obd2 scanner to this truck and it won't connect to the ecu I think. The truck was running perfectly before this guy came to install my remote starter.

Hoping someone can give me ideas of where to troubleshoot and get this truck running again.

Sorry in advance for any smartphone typos. ...

Sorry about the mess. Have you contacted the original tech and explained?
Did the truck fire and run at all after the original attempt?
Sorry, I have no idea where to even start. Electrical issues are incredibly tough to diag pin the webz.
    Bump for help.

No, it did not run after the install. Actually the install wasn't complete but it would not fire up with the key after what this installer did. He was stumped and I had him leave everything alone and go because I lost confidence in his abilities to work on my truck.

Cranks, sprays fuel ( floods engine on key position 2) but there is no spark.

Does this sound like the ecu might be fried?

If the alarm was jacked with, it may be the case you are not getting your ignition circuit going as you suspect. On my 97 I have this dip shit dumb as dirt factory S1000 alarm that I WANT to remove, but if I do anything to the alram system it kills my ignition.

This is what sounds to me to be the most likely issue. Better get them to come back out and fix that, or pay for the tow and dealer to repair it.

I would bet that the removed alarm is the issue. Can you try to reconnect it going by wire color?

Sounds like your ecu isn't getting power. Without it, you should still get fuel, your starter should go, but you wouldn't get ignition. Check and see if it has power.

Other than that, I would definitely be giving the installing company a rash of shit over this and get a discount on the entire setup.

Thanks for the replies so far, Do you know which wires under the steering column feed the ecu power (if at all)?

Also, I should add that I discovered the am2 (40 amp) fuse in the fuse box under the hood was damaged. The clear see through housing was broken and the installer may have bent the fusible link to complete the circuit. Maybe he blew the fuse during the install. I have installed a new fuse there and it isn't blowing the fuse anymore.

If the factory alarm was uninstalled and it had activated the starter kill would that be what is killing the ignition circuit on the ECU? After all isn't that what the starter kill on these trucks does is kill spark? I'm willing to bet if you reinstall the factory alarm it will fire up.

This is most likely the issue. Just like in a newer vehicle if you unplug the immobilizer, it generally cuts the spark and won't start.

I hope the op didn't finally manage to get the plugs to fire while fuel was flooding all over the place?

Hopefully he had it towed to a mechanic.

I ordered and installed a used ECM from 03 V6 4X4 AUTO, it has fixed the issue. This guy arched some wires when he was trying to install the remote starter which fried my ECM.

My truck does NOT have a transponder style key and the ECM did not require reprogramming at the dealer which was nice. Just plug and play

This was a fairly frustrating issue to resolve because of the uncertainties in terms of damaged components but I am glad its fixed and running well agian.

Hope this small tread helps someone else if they run into a similar problem like this....

Any one know why my interior heater fan only comes on at the highest setting and not any of the lower fan speeds?

Cheap circuit tester will tell you if the fan is getting any power at the lower speeds, either your switch or the fan, more than likely the fan...

I would guess the blower motor resistor.

Thanks for the help everyone... Got the heater fan working normally ( loose harness connection )

Now I just got to get this interior put back together, and the idiot "remote starter tech" is the one that took most of it apart. Lesson learned the hard way I guess... haha!
