Hey guys, so got the ole CEL on the way home. Code p0450... checked the vac lines and such and fuel tank has good pressure when the cap is released. So I figure its my vapor pressure sensor right?? Where's a good place to get one of these? Can u interchange them with other toyota vehicles??

You might try cleaning it first with Mass Air Flow Cleaner before you replace it. I had the Intermittent P0450 code for about a year thinking it was a vacuum leak somewhere. I finally decided to clean it with some MAF Cleaner and have not had the code come up since. There was some dust on the sensor that sticks inside the air hose for me.

There are a few threads out there that say that cleaning it is a waste of time, but it certainly wont hurt anything. Alot cheaper to try doing that first before buying a new one.

So I just wanted to report that after cleaning my Vapor Pressure Sensor, I still received the P0450 code. Cleaning it may/may not have helped, but it is back. After I shut down the engine, I can hear a very faint hissing noise coming from the Air Canister. It may be a cracked hose around it. I may try dabbing some silicone over the visible cracks at the end of the hose. Of course it may be the sensor itself that is bad too. Still unsure.

I cleaned mine and cleared the code. So far I have driven pry 500 miles with no CEL. So I assume mine will return as well...

To me it isn't a high priority issue to get this fixed. I haven't noticed a difference in power or efficiency so oh well. I'll just clear the code and run premium gas whenever i have to do my emissions.

If anyone is going to b!tch about how im harming the environment - consider this. The Air Force regularly dumps thousands of gallons of fuel into the air when aerial re-fuelers have to land and havent dispensed all the Jet fuel from their wings. It removes the weight from the wings so they aren't bouncing off the runway during landing. Random fact :)

Still getting the CEL infrequently. Cant really determine a pattern to it but i can go months without it, then it will come back for a week or 2, then its gone for a few months. Kinda like a cold sore... Anywho, I found this in the FSM to test the Vapor Pressure Sensor, though Im not a huge fan of removing trim pieces to get to the ECU just to test this.... too lazy, but here is the page to test the Vapor Pressure Sensor for code P0450 if anyone needs it.
