What is the overall length of the lug nuts for a 2001 Taco V6 6 lug? Also, what size socket fits that lug nut?

Beats me. My 97 lug is 21mm, never measured its length.

Well I'm asking because I had purchased some wheel locks on ebay but they were a washer type one which didnt fit. I emailed the people asking if there was different ones and they asked me whats the overall length of the nut I'm replacing. I have no idea and I cant measure it because its in the body shop getting repaired.

I think the length is variable, it's the thread size that counts. Aftermarket lugs can be longer or shorter. My 97 lug nuts are fairly short compared to others I have had in the past.

Do you have stock steelies or stock alloys?

The steelies take an 'acorn' style (no washer) and the alloys take the 'shank' style (with washer).

My 1st gen factory wheels use an acorn and they are alloy.

Then you are using the wrong lug nuts.

I went thru this with my 1999 1st gen. I replaced my steelies with stock alloys from a 2001 TRD model (bought from SCOCAR here on TW). I had to replace all the lugnuts with alloy-type shanked lugnuts. The shank accomodates for the thickness of the alloys. The flat mating surface of the attached washer presses against the flat mating surface of the alloy wheel. (hub-centric?)

The lug holes on stock steel wheels are not flat, they have a concave (conical) mating surface, to accommodate the conical mating surface of the lug nuts. (lug-centric?)

I ran a steel spare for a while, and carried a set of 6 conical lugs just in case. However, because of the slightly conical surface on the very end shank-type lugs, they would have worked OK to attach the steel spare, but it would look stupid, and wouldn't want to run it for very long.

Click the link below (Wheelers selection of 1st-gen Tacoma wheel accessories). The last item of the 1st row is for steelies. The first item of the 4th row is for alloys.

45acp gave me his old black lugs, acron style. Discount Tire wouldn't mount my wheels with them so I had to buy the flat washer style meant for our stock alloys.

The 2nd gen TRD offroad wheels I have now use a washer, but the original ones had acorn on it when I got it and from the looks of it, they weren't the right ones.

These are the ones I have. I assume they're, what KBB calls them, the premium wheel option

What is that below the valve stem, lower left? Did some shop put a weight for balancing on the outside of the wheel?

Yep. That's how they did it before. Is it not supposed to be like that?
