So I wasn't sure where to post this, so sorry if this is in the wrong spot.

I'm considering getting a winch, but I'm on a small budget (I know you get what you pay for).

I've got a Badlands winch mount bumper up front, and I'm curious what all I need and what will fit. Right now I'm looking at this winch:
    http://4wheelonline.com/Smittybilt_XRC_9500K_Winch_Gen2.243837.1568602

It has a lifetime mechanical warentee and I've heard good reviews on this one and the 12k one. They are also having a 25% off sale so it would come out around $250 after taxes.

is there anything inherently wrong with these winches? Would I be better off with a 12k winch if I'm just mounting it on the front of my truck?

Let's see. You can go warn and be an elitist, until it fails and you're too proud to ask for help : laugh: Everything else is a roll of the dice, but when it fails no issues posting about it :)

I've run a hf/badlands on 3 rigs so far. Slow but they have always worked. If I winched all the time id either learn how to drive or think about a more expensive winch. oSo far no need though.

This is this the Badlands front bumper that my friend had. Is this the one?

IIRC, there is a lot of room for a winch in that thing. And it has the standard 10" x 4.5" bolt pattern for mounting a winch. That Smittybilt winch should fit fine.

Yeah that's the one I have, minus the headlight hoops. I figured it would fit. I'm more curious about reliability.

I think I'll just get one tomorrow, with a lifetime warrantee I don't see how it could be that bad
