I have a chrome grille surround and I'm putting a mesh insert in and I want to paint the surround black
What should I do to keep from chipping and fading ?

If you want to remove the chrome first it helps a lot.

Spray it with oven cleaner and let it sit for 30 minutes. Some cleaners take longer than others. Don't worry it won't hurt the plastics unless you let it sit for hours and hours.

After 30 min or so wipe it off (Wear gloves!) then rinse really well and wash it after all the chrome is off.

Lightly sand the plastics and lay down primer and paint.

use the special paint made to bond to plastic, regular paint might work but it cracks and peels anytime it gets flexed
