My recently acquired 2002 Tacoma V6 has a "Flow Master" exhaust system installed. on the downstream side of the muffler there are TWO exhausts.
I guess the design is made to impress Tacoma fans. On the lift yesterday, I found two cracks/holes in the muffler/body.

Should I try to patch the defective muffler or install a new "FlowMaster" exact replacement or install a "standard" replacement?

I know what I would have done fifty years ago but I think my knowledge base is obsolete...LOL.

What do you want out of it??

    Sound? Looks? Cheapest as possible?

Flowmaster exhausts don't last that long unless you get stainless. I had a Flowmaster and it only lasted 4 years when it rusted out at the muffler. I took it off and went back to OEM setup. I found a take-off from someone on this forum.

If you can find someone on this forum who has an original stock exhaust they took off.....in good shape....for cheap .... Or look around for used OEM take-offs locally??. OR You'll just have to compare pricing with the aftermarket OEM new setups vs if your local muffler shop can custom bend pipes for you, etc.

Unless you go stainless.... I don't know how long you plan to keep the truck. Stainless is expensive.

I want the most practical. I think I will have a local shop just chop the bad muffler out and install a Toyota brand muffler......unless someone has a better idea.

Interesting. I've had two 40 series Flowmasters (not stainless) on the Jeep for about 14 -15 years. They are completely fine, albeit the welds are lightly rusted.

You have the North Carolina advantage....home brew burns clean but strong! Tastes great too.

If you don't want noise, buy a bosal replacement exhaust off rockauto.com and bolt it up.
