Im planing on replacing my current cracked instrument cluster with one I found at a junkyard, I had the digital odometer so does it need to be calibrated or flashed so I can use it one my truck or is it just plug and play ?

if it's the same model truck and engine then it should be plug and play

If your truck is a 4cyl and automatic, then the truck you are pulling it from needs to be the same drivetrain setup.

Correct, a 5 speed cluster doesnt have the right calibration and also doesnt have the automatic gear indicator lights. An automatic cluster will have the P, R, N, D, 2, 1 vertically between the speedo and tach gauge

I know on my 85' if I wanted to use a tach from a v6 I had to adjust the sensor behind the tach. Real easy to do with a screwdriver. Just hook up a dwell or Ultra Gauge or something to read the true RPM's and adjust accordingly by turning left or right.

if you have the floor shift then I think this is what you need: http://www.ebay.com/itm/98-99-00-To...Parts_Accessories&hash=item35d76564cd&vxp=mtr

if you have column shifter then you need the one with the shift lights down the center between the tach and speedo

when you find one it might have more miles then you like or even less then yours does, I don't know if you can change that part of the cluster out with yours or recalibrate it but you might have to live with whatever the new one says.

whats wrong with your old one?

Every state is different when it comes to mileage. I am in California and all that they care about is that it shows the correct mileage so I was able to swap my old mileage tumbler into the new cluster. Check with your local DMV to verify what is legal in your state

Well the only thing that is wrong with mine is the clear plastic part is missing, Do you know if there's somewhere I can get one ? At least I think that part is replaceable

well then any similar gage cluster will work then because the clear covers are all the same weather manual or auto so get a cheap one just for the clear cover to use on yours.

how in the hell did you break yours? must be a hell of a story

darn, I was hoping it involved a battle with space aliens or hot chicks with big hooters

good luck, hope you can find a good deal and ask in the for sale section if anyone has a broken one that isn't cracked
