Is the 99 Tacoma front end interchangeable with the 4Runner?

Some cretin backed into my daughter's 99 and smashed the headlight, grille, hood, fender and bumper.

I don't want to file a claim because I am afraid they will try to total it. If I can find the parts reasonable enough, I will just fix it myself. I am having trouble finding parts, but 2 different yards said they had complete 4Runner front ends. Looking online, it looks like a no go.

    Thanks

if they total it you can buy it back from them at scrap value then use the money from the claim to fix it, your paying for that coverage so use it.

after that just get minimum coverage on it since you already reached the point you rather keep it then total it.

How much grief did you endure, doing the swap? Was it more than just grille, bumper and headlight buckets?

I have a 1999; the composite headlights are decomposing and I REALLY do not like the uninspired, chromed-up, waterfall-sloping grille. I want to stick standard rectangular headlight buckets in there, and then install Hella aftermarket replacements.

Words of advice? I don't want to change out hod, fenders or radiator support.

    Looks easy enough.

Finding the front-end parts seems like the hardest. Where I'm at, Tacomas don't rest easy in boneyard; they're in DEMAND.

Rockauto for pretty much everything. Found a couple of part outs in the 1st gen marketplace where I got the headlamp housings. Went to the dealership for the clips.

You haven't mentioned whether or not your daughters '99 is a 5-lug or 6-lug. That might make a big difference.

Prerunner, did they even make a 5 lug 4Runner?

All 4runners are 6-lug. It just wasn't clear to me what your daughters vehicle was, you only described it as "daughters '99" .

The 2wd 5 lug front end isn't compatible with the 4Runner according to the wrecking yards. I think I found a donor front end though, a 2001 Tacoma Double Cab. Front end is complete, truck is hit hard in left rear door and bed, guy wants $2000 for the whole truck with a clean title 73,000 on the odometer. It is also 4wd, so there are my conversion parts for my Prerunner.
