Complete OME kit w/ 881's and dakars. All-Pro Sliders, CB, HAM Radio and various other minor stuff.
Slow, underpowered, Prius laugh as they pass you by while accelerating on the highway...and one of the best damn engines I've ever had. As long as I rev it past 3k, the 5 speed shifts like butter and my last tank saw 24mpg.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Why I love my 3.4, don't have that problem haha, but, the 2.7 is a great mill. I had one in my 2011 and loved it, just got tired of shifting and being so slow on the highway. Plus I wanted a first gen double cab! :cool:Both engines are great, I can see either being a 500k mile engine properly maintained.

The 2rz and 3rz are pretty much the updated versions of the 22re. So reliability is spot on. I had a 3rz in my Tacoma before I swapped in my 4.7. I have a 2rz in my 96 Tacoma and it runs like a champ @254k.

That is NOT the same 2.7l ... it doesn't even compare to the 3rz. 3rz is far superior.

How so? I haven't heard of any issues with the ones used in second gens. I loved the one in mine, but it just wasn't enough for me and the access cab was too small.

I honestly don't think Toyota ever made a bad 4 cylinder. The one V6 they made that really sucked was that 3.0, but I think the rest of the V6's have proven themselves too. Not sure on the V8's, though.

The 05+ 2.7L's engine code is 2tr-fe. It is the upgraded 3rz. I believe it has vvti, but I'm not sure.

Yes, it does, gives them a boost in power and torque I think is all the vvti does.

The newer ones are just that... More electronics and shit. Not that there is anything wrong with the newer 2.7l, I just think that the 3rz is just a better engine.
