I want to turn off the door bell on my truck but I don't want to disable the switch, I want the lights to work I just don't want the bell.

I do things where the door is often open and I want that damn bell to just shut up!

where is this thing at so I can unplug just the bell itself and leave everything else as-is so the lights still go on and off with the door?

a description is good enough but a picture would be even better

alot of times once the door is open on vehicles with the button in the front of the door jam I'll just wedge a socket or somethin in there to hold the button down. On vehicles with the switch in the latch itself like my dmax I'll just close the latch by hand you then just have to remember to pop the latch again before you close the door or you'll be cringing when you hear the smack of the closed latch smack the vehicle side of the latch.

The buzzer that makes the 'doorbell' sound is mounted to back of the instrument cluster. I pulled off the cluster and removed the little speaker. If you're careful, you can save it to put back on if you ever want to go back to stock. It is actually very easy. It shut up the doorbell and the seatbelt buzzer. If you have a 6 speed trans, you would also loose the buzzer that tells you that you are in reverse though.

Edit: didn't notice you had a 1st gen.

Your truck buzzes at you when you're in reverse? Jesus...

Just did this mod, super easy to just unplug the harness next to the steering column, mine has a blue wire and the green with red stripe, and two grounds.
