How do you grind the calipers?

This may be a stupid question but how would you go about grinding the calipers down to clear the wheel without messing them up. What kind of tools do you use a how much do you grind off. Im only about a 1/8 of an inch off on my wheels. thanks

 

Use a wheel spacer before you grind the caliper

 

What size rim you putting on thier...size and width...back spacing?

 

its the wheels i have on there now, there 15x12 and i dont know the backspacing they were already on there when i bought the truck. i bought it from my brother in law.

 

Yeah thats your problem 15's are a no go but you say you have only 1/8 inch to go? Dont know much about grinding on calipers but I'm pretty sure you shouldnt. Someone will give you some advice for sure just be patient. with a title like this thread has it is bound to grab some attention I definitly want to know how that works out. I just gave up once told they wouldnt clear the calipers and ordered 16's. good luck. if you decide to grind let us know how it works out.

 

1rst gens clear 15's, go to the auto parts store and buy a set of 1/4 inch wheel spacers and run those, it should clear after that

 

well when the wheels were put on a washer was put on every lug to push it out about 1/8 of an inch and i posted a thread about it to help everyone out and everybody acted like i was a dumb *** for doing it. they said it was dangerous. it has had the same wheels on it for probably about 50,000 miles now with no problems. he only had to change out one wheel stud that broke. thats pretty good for that amount of miles on a 12 wide wheel

 

Yeah Ive seen that trick used before, its just better to use a full spacer to have full contact of the wheel to the hub

 

grinding the calipers is easy..Just take a small grinder and take a hair off.

 

My bad on the 1st gen, didnt notice that.

 

uh yea, you dont grind the calipers. This is not a chevy....
