    Does anyone know why, sometimes, my alarm chips once when setting and other times it chirps three times?

    Also, can the chirp be disabled so only the lights blink when you set the alarm?

    :)

    once is on and 2 or 3 means off, at least that's how all the ones I have seen are

    just look at the door, unlocked the door buttons go up, locked they go down

    The speaker/thing that chirps is conveniently plugged into the wiring harness right behind the fuse box next to the battery (on a 2002 V6). You can unplug it to stop the beeping, and your lights will still flash when you use the remote. That and unplugging the door buzzer are the two best things I've done to my truck in a long time.

    Great, thanks!

    So, apparently, the "speaker" that chirps isn't what sounds when the alarm goes off? I'm guessing that's your truck horn? I sure don't want to disable the device that makes noise if the truck gets broken into!

    :eek:

    Yep, when your alarm goes off, it's the horn that makes all the noise. The beeping thing is just for the door locks.

    Multiple chirps could mean someone was tampering with it.

    One = on
    Two = off
    Multiple = tampering, usually glass breakage sensor
