Hey guys I didn't know if this was normal or not with a 2.7 4 cylinder, but my truck with stock tires ride normally around 2500 RPM's which seems pretty high to me.
I drove a Nissan Frontier to Oxford last night it averaged 1500 at the most going 75-80 mph.
Is it just me or are you guys running near the same. I figured I could get way better gas mileage trying to get it down.

Any help would be great thanks guys

    totally fine and normal

my v6 stock diff gears and 31s was at that rpm about for 65-70

now..im at 3000 with current setup.

Motor will be just fine. RPMs aren't everything, the powerband is the important part. I wouldn't worry about it.

if you're changing your tire size, your final gearing will be affected and your rpms will go down. but you'll lose power.

You won't be able to pull hills on the why as well with bigger tires due to weight and lower overall drive ratio so you will end up down shifting.

Yes you'll see a small loss in MPGs with bigger tires.

If you are that worried about mpgs then you're screwed haha bigger tires and armor just mean less and less. If you want good MPGs. Don't do anything to the truck other then staying on top of maintenance.

It's a truck not a car..never gonna see better then 20 average if you drive like a grandma on her death bed.

I have a 2.7 with AT, 4wd, stock tires and drive-train. I average around 21 mpg while driving like the grandpa that I am. At 65mph, my rpms are around 2400.

Its a gutless wonder, but I love it.

No. Not required. Helpful but not needed.
