I recently upgraded the tail lights on my 04 Tacoma to after market lights. Now when i turn on my headlights my passenger side brake light comes on with out pressing the brakes. Any ideas of what the problem could be?

I would bet you a frosty beverage that you have a ground loop. Unscrew light fixture but leave plugged in. Mess with the white wires, especially the connection where all the wires come together. Chances are you have a bad connection. If this is the case, you just need to cut out the factory connection (where the 3 wires come together) and reconnect is with good connection... solder would be best.

Forgot to ask... there is not other indication of problem on driver side? If it is both lights, it may be a problem with your after market lights.

Its only the passenger side that stays on.

generic lights don't work on tacos because you need diodes to prevent back feeds making the lights act crazy.

unless the lights are specifically made for tacos they will be wired "normally" for regular trucks so there wont be anything to stop problems since our wiring is different then normal American trucks wiring

this shows what you need to do to have it wired correctly if you picture the tail lights being in the place of the trailer lights in the diagram
